This band has the likes of Modest Mouse mixed with Dropkick Murphys. Indie Rock riffs, beats, mixed background vocals, and a real raucous Rock ‘n Roll voice tops this nice musical mix.

“The album is meant to never let up, never give you a chance to catch your breath. I wanted to make a record about people and relationships falling apart not brick by brick but all at once”, says Alemany

Members:

Akira Alemany (guitar, vocals)
Brett Millius (drums, backing vocals)
Juan Carlos Rivas (bass)

MINI BIO courtesy of Audio Blood Media:

Modernboys Moderngirls (MBMG) are either punk rockers who play soul music or soul musicians who play punk rock. It’s this dazzling combination of sound, songwriting and swagger – influenced by Elvis Costello & The Attractions, Otis Redding, Bruce Springsteen, and the New York Dolls – that’s got people all across the country singing their praises.

MBMG first gained buzz in the summer of 2008 when they were invited to perform at North By Northeast (NXNE) festival and Edgefest all before even releasing an album. With growing attention, MBMG released an early cut of their debut album to excellent reviews across Canada and strong airplay on campus radio stations, reaching #8 on the CBCRadio3 charts as well as garnering a CBCRadio3 Bucky Award nomination.

Now, after noteworthy appearances at Halifax Pop Explosion and Canadian Music Week, MBMG is getting ready to release their completed debut album, I Might As Well Break It.

MBMG, led by songwriter, singer and guitarist Akira Alemany, also includes Brett Millius (drums, backing vocals) and newest member Juan Carlos Rivas (bass).  The band is ready to connect with a growing audience, tour extensively behind I Might As Well Break It, and continue earning their reputation as one of the most exciting Canadian bands of 2009.
